 Term Fee: £363 (Summer Term – 11 sessions) Immersive, Real-Life Mandarin Learning Through Culture, Creativity, and Character Mandarin Bud I at WenLin Chinese School is a Mandarin immersion course for children aged 5 to 7 in Reception to Year 2. The course is suitable for both beginners and children with some prior exposure to Mandarin. Through activity-based, real-world learning, children build foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, progressing confidently from YCT Level 1 toward YCT Level 2, with a vocabulary of 80–200+ words. Our teaching is rooted in WenLin’s unique NSTEM-informed approach—where Nature, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths topics are used as engaging themes for language learning. This reflects our belief that children learn best when language is connected to real-life experiences and curiosity-driven exploration. Lessons are also guided by seasonal and cultural topics, Chinese festivals, and universal values like kindness, perseverance, respect and confidence. Each session includes 15 minutes of Chinese calligraphy practice, supporting focus, posture, coordination, and a deeper understanding of Chinese character structure. Children regularly sing, act, and tell stories in Mandarin, and take home Chinese picture books to build vocabulary and confidence through our Reading for Elders Project. 📚 Families are encouraged to support their child with just 10 minutes of daily Mandarin review.
